Dear Adianto,

Well what can I say, but a big thankyou for sharing your trading strategies and knowledge. I havent read it all yet, but I am finding the content very informative, refreshing and confidence boosting.

I started learning to trade forex about 3 years ago. I have learnt a great deal but I still have not fully mastered the confidence behind a good trading strategy.

I loved your website straight away, because I am trying to devise a strategy that I can trade on the 4 hour time frame chart.

Notable people whose strategies I admire are Dr Bobs, Bill Williams Chaos, Raghee Horner and Kathy Lien.

The strategies that I try to adapt to are Dr Bobs 5014, 5034 and 5034z.
Kathy Liens “Do the Right Thing, Channel Breakouts with the CCI”
Raghee Horners 34 EMA Wave and Bill Williams with Fractal Breaks and Divergent Bars.

I did a course on Forex Trading 3 years ago, and it was taught purely price action with Trend lines, Support and Resistance and Candle Patterns.

Then I discovered indicators and like you trying to find the holy grail magic indicator.

After all these years I am slowly realising that they do greatly lag as entry signals for trading strategies.

Yet I am not in the group of traders to completely discount the merit of indicators.

As a result I have greatly discovered the merit and power of divergence namely with the CCI. someday I wish I could get to meet Donald Lambert to thank him for inventing the CCI.

I like the 4 hour timeframe, and I got very excited to read your 123 strategy with the 50 CCI.

I appreciate the time and effort you have gone to share your work in an easy format with the important addition of an optimistic/realistic attitude towards trading.

Like I said I havent had a great deal of success with Forex, but I have this inside enthusiasm that I can eventually conquer it. And your website has added greatly to my confidence.

I admire the way you think with using a fractal based break of support or resistance, using the aid of the 34 EMA and 50 CCI for trend direction.

Like you I would like to trade a strategy based on price action with confluent confirmation of the chosen indicators and multiple timeframes to give a few high probability trades per week.

I think when we all start to trade we are subjected to over trade.

I also admire your method of setting the stop-loss and risk management. Its only in the last 6 months that I can truly appreciate good risk management for successful trading. When I did my course I was brought up on a 1 to 1.5 R/R ratio, so I also found that information refreshing to read in your strategy

I would appreciate if you can offer any more reading regarding your PA 50CCI strategy.

Just also wondering how you use the 3 and 14 EMA’s in your strategy.

I understand that the 204 EMA on a 4hr chart can represent the 34 EMA on the daily chart for trend direction and dynamic support or resistance. I read that in an article by Buzz about Dr Bobs methods of trading the CCI.

Please feel free to email me what you are thinking as a trading friend. I also appreciate trading can get lonely out there.

Many thanks
Angela

My Reply:

Hello Angela,

First of all, I’m really sorry for answering your email so late. To Make it up to you… , tomorrow I will make some examples of PA 50 CCI trading setups on 4 hour TF at my blog so you can look at it and we can discuss it.

I am so surprised and never thought that someone would respond the PA 50 CCI like you do. :-)

Yes Angela.. Indicators are so lagging for entry or exit signals. What I know is that If there is a trading strategy that use indicator for entry and exit signals then it usually will not last long. Especially when the market volatility are changing (However, I’m still opening my mind for any possibilities). This will make traders confuse and lose money.

Dr Bobs 5014, 5034 and 5034z indeed is a popular setups. But, I have never tried it yet. That is because I have tons of research that make my self confused… and then I thought … I’ll just use 123 setup as the simplest one. And it works!! LOL…. :-D

How do I use 3 and 14 EMA? well… sometime I use it sometime I don’t. But the 34 EMA represent the CCI zero line, and the 14 EMA represent the -100 and +100 well.

For the bigger time frame, I use the support resistance only. I rarely use any Indicator to check the bigger TF. If I trade PA 50 CCI on 1 Hour, then I use blank chart on the 4 Hour and Daily (candlestick only) with manual Support resistance lines.

If there is 50 CCI divergence or any chart pattern then I’ll wait for 123 and go for it…

I really thank you for your respond on the PA 50 CCI, you can email me when ever you want and I’ll try my best to give more PA 50 CCI reading so we can enhance it make it more powerful.

Best Regards

Adianto
